HC Deb 03 July 1984 vol 63 cc105-6W
Dr. Roger Thomas

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will delay the introduction of the new super levy on milk production until details are available of how the system will be supervised and enforced in the United Kingdom and in other member states of the European Economic Community.

Mr. Jopling

At the Agriculture Council on 18–19 June I stressed the need for all member states to implement the arrangements agreed by the Council. I am pleased to report that the Agriculture Commission agreed with and supported my statement.

The Commission has already agreed to combine the first two quarterly levy payments. This means that no levy will be due for payment until 45 days, at the latest, after the end of September.
