§ Sir Keith JosephThree such written representations have been received in the Department. I understand that the Medical Research Council has found it necessary to impose selective reductions on those parts of all its units' 1984–85 budgets which are for consumable items; and to restrict allocations for capital equipment. These measures apply to the council's units in England and Wales as well as in Scotland.
