§ Mr. Foulkesasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is his estimate of the likely annual cost to the Inland Revenue of annually compiling a list of Scottish charities giving the name, address, brief details of scope and size of assets, and distinguishing between grant giving and grant making charities, and making that list available to one or two charitable organisations prepared to publish it and receive all enquiries.
§ Mr. MooreSince there is no formal system of registration of charities in Scotland the number of Scottish charities in existence is not known. It is not therefore possible to estimate the cost of compiling a list of such charities. Information given to the Inland Revenue by charities in Scotland is confidential and could not be made available to outside bodies.
