HC Deb 02 July 1984 vol 63 c37W
Miss Boothroyd

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many adult training places and youth training places, respectively, will be provided in the Sandwell area over the next 12 months under the proposals of the White Paper, "Training for Jobs"; and what plans there are for additional pilot schemes for the Sandwell area.

Mr. Peter Morrison

Current plans are for 291 places under the training opportunities scheme and 3,310 places under the youth training scheme in the Sandwell area in 1984–85. Decisions about training after March 1985 have not yet been taken.

The Manpower Services Commission's area office at Dudley is now considering the needs of the Sandwell area in the light of the adult training strategy. No decisions have yet been taken about pilot schemes.
