HC Deb 02 July 1984 vol 63 c23W
Mr. Ron Davies

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what percentage of the timber utilised annually in Wales is produced in the British Isles.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

Figures are not readily available for individual home countries, but about 10 per cent. of the timber utilised annually in Great Britain is homegrown.

Mr. Ron Davies

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what is the volume of timber, grown in Wales, which is exported annually for processing as pulp; and what this represents as a percentage of the total volume of timber produced in Wales each year.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

In 1983 some 87,000 cubic metres of timber grown in Wales was exported. This represented 11 per cent. of the timber produced in Wales in that year.
