HC Deb 02 July 1984 vol 63 c73W
Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many students he expects to be dependent on social security payments during the summer vacation.

Dr. Boyson

It is difficult to estimate the figures for 1984, but I understand that during the course of the 1983 summer vacation the number of unemployed students claiming benefit at an unemployment benefit office in Great Britain was:

Number
July 173,000
August 180,000
September 214,000
