Mr. John David Taylorasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if, in the Repatriation of Prisoners Bill [Lords], the terms "British Islands" is intended to include the Isle of Man, Channel Islands, and the Republic of Ireland.
§ Mr. MellorBy virtue of the Interpretation Act 1978, "British Islands" in subsequent legislation means the United Kingdom, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, but not the Republic of Ireland.
