HC Deb 30 January 1984 vol 53 cc26-7W
Mr. Hunter

asked the Secretary of State for Employment why a person claiming unemployment benefit is required, when attending at an unemployment benefit office, to sign the relevant document to state whether during the period for which such benefit is claimed he or she has done or expects to do any voluntary work.

Mr. Alan Clark

One of the conditions for the receipt of unemployment benefit is that unemployed claimants remain available for work. They are therefore asked to declare whether they have done any kind of work whether paid or unpaid.
