By end of August about 11,890 youth training scheme places had been identified of which 11,260 had been approved in the area covered by the Manpower Services Commission's Stoke-on-Trent area office, which includes Stoke-on-Trent and the whole of Staffordshire. A further 335 places were approved in September, 30 in October and none since.
