HC Deb 30 January 1984 vol 53 c21W
Mr. Terry Fields

asked the Attorney-General whether the Lord Chancellor will give priority to the listing of the appeal against conviction of Mr. Dennis Kelly (Mr. Dennis O'Brien).

The Attorney-General

The listing of pending cases is a judicial and not executive function and applications for priority should accordingly be made to the court.

Mr. Loyden

asked the Attorney-General what representations Her Majesty's Government have received on behalf of Dennis Kelly O'Brien for an early listing of his appeal.

The Attorney-General

Letters to this effect have been received from the hon. Member and from Mr. O'Brien's solicitor Applications for expediting hearings should, however, be made to the court, since the listing of pending cases is a judicial function.
