§ Mr. MacfarlaneFollowing discussions with representatives of the Church of England and the non-Anglican churches, my right hon. Friend, in consultation with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Wales, is today issuing a consultation paper seeking views on the case for and against ending or modifying the exemption as it applies in England and Wales. Interested bodies and individuals are being invited to comment by 31 July. This will allow the opportunity for the paper to be considered in parallel with the report of the Church of England's faculty jurisdiction commission which will, I understand, be published on 9 February.
