HC Deb 30 January 1984 vol 53 cc82-3W
Mr. Wainwright

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list those local authorities which have declared a moratorium on applications for discretionary home improvement grants; and if he will make a statement.

Sir George Young

The information requested is not readily available as local authorities are not required to inform my Department about their decisions on home improvement grants. I know that some authorities have temporarily suspended discretionary grant approvals while considering their priorities within the housing investment programme allocations announced for 1984–85. I hope these reviews will soon be concluded and that high priority will be given to continued investment in improvement grants.
