Assistance offered by International Atomic Energy Agency members which are non-proliferation treaty 4W parties or members of the Nuclear Suppliers Group is given only on receipt of certain non-proliferation assurances. These include the acceptance of safeguards administered by the agency that are designed to ensure that material or equipment supplied for peaceful purposes is not diverted to military use.
