HC Deb 26 January 1984 vol 52 cc707-8W
Mr. Barry Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what was the increase in real terms of the Welsh Development Agency financial allocations for each of the financial years 1980–81 to 1983–84.

Mr. Nicholas Edwards

[pursuant to his reply, 19 January 1984, c. 319–320.]: The budget provision for the Welsh Development Agency has fallen in recent years with the completion of the major steel remedial programmes. Government programmes are no longer planned on a constant price basis. However, by applying the gross domestic product deflator and using 1982–83 as the base year the total funds provided to the agency, or expected to be provided, by the Government in the years in question appear as follows:

£ millions
1980–81 76.7
1981–82 82.0
1982–83 56.4
1983–84 41.1
