§ Mr. HurdThe Department routinely collects information from police authorities or chief constables on the following matters:
- Statistics of police officers and civilian manpower.
- Authorised establishment and strength of police forces.
- Statistics of complaints, discipline and commendations.
- Statistics of offences recorded by the police.
- Vaue of property stolen.
- Statistics of offences cleared up by the police.
- Statistics of those proceeded against and those cautioned.
- Statistics of motor vehicles stolen and recovered.
- Statistics of use of stop and search powers under Section 23(2) of Misuse Drugs Act 1971.
- Statistics of police vehicles.
- Statistics of road accidents.
- Statistics of motoring offences.
- Statistics of the use of technical aid (eg forensic laboratories).
- Returns of breath tests administered.
- Examination results of candidates in entrance tests.
- Statistics of results of applications to the courts for removal of driving licence disqualification.
- Numbers of various miscellaneous orders issued by courts.
- Information on seizures of controlled drugs
- Information on persons dealt with for offences involving drugs.
- Operation of section 62 of the Criminal Law Act 1977.
- Fixed penalty notices for vehicle offences.
- Written warnings for vehicle offences.
- Offences recorded by the police in which a weapon covered by the Firearms Act 1968 was involved.
- Offences initially recorded as homicide.
- Death in police custody or otherwise with the police.
- The operation of the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Acts 1974 and 1976.
- Statements of Expenditure on which claims for police grant are based.
- Estimates for building work in police authorities.
- Returns of foreign nationals required to register with the police under section 3(1) of the 1971 Immigration Act.
