HC Deb 26 January 1984 vol 52 c702W
Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make a statement on the way in which he now intends to proceed with his inquiry into occupational pension schemes.

Dr. Boyson

As my right hon. Friend said on 23 November last year— [Vol. 49, c. 361]—he hopes to reach conclusions on portable pensions by the spring. His inquiry into provision for retirement has therefore given priority to this subject and has set up a sub-group to look at it. It has invited written evidence from organisations and members of the public, which it is following up with oral evidence at four public sessions. The inquiry hopes to complete by the summer the remainder of its work, about which it is seeking views from interested bodies and the public and on which it will hear oral evidence in public. The Government will publish the conclusions which they reach in the light of the inquiry's work.
