HC Deb 26 January 1984 vol 52 c692W
Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what is the purpose of his Department's film "Firefight"; how much it cost to produce and distribute; and which cinemas are showing or due to show the film.

Mr. Stanley

The film "Firefight" is a reconstruction of an operation carried out by the Royal Marines during the Falkland Islands conflict in 1982. Its purpose is to display to the public the capabilities and skills of the Royal Marines. The production cost was about £50,000. The responsibility for distributing the film to cinemas is a matter for a commercial company and public expenditure is not involved in the distribution.
