asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he can provide information on the number of redundancies in iron and steel manufacture between January 1979 and November 1983 within each member state of the European Economic Community.

Information for the whole of the period requested is not available. Between January 1980 and May 1983 the number of redundancies and dismissals in the iron and steel industries of each of the member states of the European Coal and Steel Community has been as follows:
