HC Deb 26 January 1984 vol 52 cc705-6W
Mr. Barry Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he is satisfied with the operation of deputising services in Wales.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

Recent inquiries indicate that deputising services have generally operated satsifactorily in Wales since guidance was first issued in 1978. Family practitioner committees, the medical profession and other interests are currently being consulted on possible amendments to this guidance.

Mr. Barry Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many deputising services there are in Wales; and how many qualified doctors are employed in these services.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

There are three deputising services in Wales, which employ a total of 79 qualified doctors.
