asked the Secretary of State for Energy what are the current levels of coal stocks held by the National Coal Board and the electricity generating boards.

Mr. Giles Shaw

At 24 December coal stocks held by the National Coal Board and the electricity generating boards were 23,987,000 tonnes and 31,907,000 tonnes, respectively.

asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will state the countries from which coal is imported and the tonnage concerned over the last five years.
