asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement on his proposed purchase of wide bodied tankers for the Royal Air Force.

Six Tristar aircraft have already been purchased for the RAF to augment the existing tanker fleet. However, the Victor tanker force will need to be replaced later this decade, and consideration is now being given to the best way of doing this.
