HC Deb 24 January 1984 vol 52 c496W
Mr. Geraint Howells

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will meet the president and executive members of the Farmers Union of Wales to discuss the situation of marginal land farmers in Wales.

Mr. Nicholas Edwards

I would of course be prepared to consider any request by the president and executive committee members of the Farmers Union of Wales, but I doubt whether there is a need to meet them at this time. I am fully aware of the importance which the Farmers Union of Wales attaches to securing approval to our application for the redefinition of our less favoured area and, as the hon. Gentleman will know, the case is being pursued vigorously in Brussels by my right hon. Friend the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.
