Mr. Caborn

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what is the value of United Kingdom exports insured in the last 12 months by the Export Credits Guarantee Department; and what claims have been paid by the Export Credits Guarantee Department.

During the 12 months ended October 1983, the most recent period for which such figures are available, the Export Credits Guarantee Department insured exports totalling approximately £18.6 billion and paid claims by policy holders amounting to £562 million.
