§ Mr. John MacKayIn the period from 1 January 1979 to 31 December 1983 the Highlands and Islands Development Board, which is the Government's principal agency for economic and social development in the highlands and islands, provided financial assistance of £876,125 towards developments on Benbecula. Financial assistance of various forms has also been provided by the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries for Scotland, but records do not identify separately expenditure on Benbecula.
