HC Deb 20 January 1984 vol 52 c362W
Mr. Skeet

asked the Prime Minister what measures she is taking to ensure that the Government's energy conservation programme is being fully co-ordinated between Government Departments; and if she is satisfied with the results being achieved.

The Prime Minister

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Energy has responsibility for the Government's overall strategy for energy efficiency.

The energy efficiency office was established on 31 October 1983 to spearhead a new drive for energy efficiency. The office will secure a sharper focus for the Government's work in this area. It will monitor, develop and co-ordinate policies as well as administering a programme of assistance, information and advice for all sectors of the economy. I am satisfied with progress to date.
