§ Mr. AncramMy right hon. Friend is empowered under the provisions of the Highlands and Islands Shipping Services Act 1960 to give financial assistance for the purposes of maintaining and improving sea transport services, where these are public services, serving the Highlands and Islands. He may assist persons who provide and are wholly or mainly engaged in providing such services, or who propose to provide such services. If the hon. Member has a particular case in mind, I would be glad to hear further from him.
