§ Mr. WaldegraveMy Department's expenditure on research in this field is about £600,000 in 1983–84, rising 217W to about £1 million in 1984–85. The programme includes research on the environmental effects of acid deposition and its physico-chemical aspects. Much of the work is inherently long-term; projects are planned to run for three years initially, with annual review.
