HC Deb 17 January 1984 vol 52 cc158-9W
Mr. Hunter

asked the Secretary of State for Employment (1) what provision is made by his Department to assist persons registered as unemployed at local unemployment benefit offices to meet the costs of and incidental to attending interviews in connection with applications for employment which have been made through jobcentre or professional and executive register officers;

(2) what provision is made by his Department to assist persons registered as unemployed at local unemployment benefit offices to meet the costs of and incidental to attending interviews in connection with applications for employment which have been made otherwise than through jobcentres or professional and executive register offices.

Mr. Peter Morrison

Unemployed job seekers can, where eligible, receive assistance in meeting the cost of attending interviews for jobs that are beyond daily travelling distance from their homes. This assistance is not restricted to interviews arranged through a jobcentre or professional and executive register office.
