HC Deb 17 January 1984 vol 52 cc163-4W
Mr. Michael Forsyth

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what was the total cost of each type of survey and what was the estimated energy saving identified by each type.

Mr. Buchanan-Smith

Information on the total costs to clients of surveys conducted under the energy survey scheme is not readily available. Grants in 1982–83 totalled £1,308,000. Of this approximately £760,000 was paid for one-day surveys and £540,000 for extended surveys.

For every £1 invested in the surveys, average savings identified were worth over £15 a year to the energy user.
