§ Mr. JoplingUnited Kingdom intervention stocks of beef, breadwheat, butter and skimmed milk powder on 31 December totalled 360,550 tonnes valued at some £500 million. The cost of storing and handling intervention stocks including all forms of cereals in 1983–84 was £49 million.
