asked the Under-Secretary of State answering in respect of the Arts what is the information supplied to the Minister for the Arts by Scottish Opera concerning its income from (a) local authority grants and (b) ticket sales, which he takes into account in determining any grants he may make to them.

The level of grant to Scottish Opera is determined by the Scottish Arts Council. Grants to the opera from local authorities, and its box office income in 1982–83, together with estimated figures for 1983–84, are as follows:
