§ Mr. Allan StewartThe experience and qualifications of the members of the inspectorate, the present strength of which is 112, cover all subjects in schools. Recruitment to the inspectorate is by open competition, and candidates are required to have a relevant honours degree or equivalent qualification. We are not prepared to give personal details of the members of the inspectorate, but I can say that the average teaching experience of the inspectors is 15 years.
