HC Deb 17 January 1984 vol 52 cc184-5W
Mr. Barry Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what were Government financial allocations to housing associations in Wales for the years 1979–80 to 1984–85 inclusive; and what is his estimate in real terms of the percentage decline in moneys made available to housing associations in Wales for 1984–85 compared to the 1979–80 allocation.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

Capital allocations to housing associations in Wales, through the Housing Corporation, are as follows:

£ million
1979–80 24.8
1980–81 28.9
1981–82 32.9
1982–83 44.9
1983–84 41.0
1984–85 39.0

A comparison between the allocations for 1979–80 and 1984–85, using the gross domestic product deflator to a base of average 1981–82 prices, does not show a decline in value.
