HL Deb 17 January 1984 vol 446 cc1040-1WA
Lord Melchett

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will list the agricultural commodities of which they believe it is economically sensible to encourage an expansion in production in the United Kingdom at present.

Lord Belstead

The Government consider it economically sensible to expand production in the United Kingdom of those commodities that can be produced and marketed at competitive prices. It is best that individual farmers decide on their production plans in the light of their own particular circumstances.
