§ Mr. Wigleyasked the Secretary of State for Wales on what date his Department was given a copy of the report of the Committee on Welsh Affairs entitled "Water in Wales" (H.C. Nos. 229-I and 229-II); and why he has not been able to reply to the report within two months of publication.
§ Mr. Wyn RobertsThe report was published on 11 May; in accordance with the usual arrangements the Welsh Office received advance copies on 9 May. Every endeavour is normally made to answer Select Committee reports within two months of publication, except where extensive consultations are involved. Since the publication of this report the General Election has also intervened, but the Government's response will be published as soon as practicable.
