§ Mr. Dewarasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list the amount deducted from rate support grant settlements in each of the last five years (a) by specific; 75W action against an individual local authority under section 5 of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1966 and (b) by general abatement.
§ Mr. YoungerSelective action under section 5 of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1966 reduced the rate support grant payable for 1981–82 by £31 million.
General abatements of rate support grant have been made as follows:
