HC Deb 16 January 1984 vol 52 cc22-3W
Mr. Foulkes

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer under what arrangements the National Savings Bank operates in Jersey and Guernsey; what special arrangements have been made regarding transfers to and from the islands by the National Savings Bank; and under what arrangements nationals of Jersey and Guernsey invest in the National Savings Bank.

Mr. Ian Stewart

Post offices in Jersey and Guernsey provide facilities for National Savings Bank customers to conduct business on a similar basis to post offices in the United Kingdom.

National savings uses normal channels to account for this business.

There are no special rules regarding residence for customers of the National Savings Bank. Customers in Jersey and Guernsey invest on the same terms as other customers.
