HC Deb 16 January 1984 vol 52 c1W
Mr. Greenway

asked the Attorney-General how many people served on juries in England and Wales in the latest year for which figures are available; and what were (a) the total and (b) the average expenses paid to such jurors.

The Attorney-General

The number of persons who serve as jurors is not recorded centrally and could be obtained only at disproportionate expense. The total expenditure on jurors' expenses in the year ending 5 April 1983 was £14,127,069. As the number of jurors is not known it is not possible to calculate the average.
