Sir Anthony Meyer

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will tabulate the payment appropriations in the 1983 and 1984 Community budgets, in pounds sterling, in accordance with the headings in table 1A of Cmnd. 9030, and adding the percentage of the total budget accounted for by each heading.

The following table shows payment appropriations for 1983 including provision in the two supplementary budgets for that year, together with figures for 1984 which are provisional pending publication in the Official Journal of the Communities.

The 1983 figures have been converted from ecus using the average annual exchange rate for 1983 of £1 = 1.7496 ecu, except for UK refunds which have been converted using actual exchange rates. 1984 figures have been converted using the rate used to draw up the 1984 Community Budget of £1 = 1.6192.

asked the Chancellor of the Exhequer if he will tabulate the estimated net contributions, corrected and uncorrected, to the Community budget of each member state of the European Economic Community, expressed in pounds sterling, for the years 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982 and 1983, together with an index of the relative prosperity of each member state in terms of gross domestic product per head.

The estimates of uncorrected and corrected net contributions figures are based on Commission estimates in ecu converted to sterling using the average annual sterling/ecu exchange rate. The Commission has not produced estimates for 1983.

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer when he expects figures for the outturn of United Kingdom contributions to and receipts from the Community budget in 1983 to be published.

The provisional outturn figures for the United Kingdom's contributions to and receipts from the Community budget in 1983 will be included in the "Statement on the 1984 Community Budget", which will be published in the next few months, when the relevant information is available from the Commission.
