Mr. Craigen

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the total number of public sector houses sold in Scotland up to the latest practicable reporting date (a) by local authorities, (b) by the Scottish Special Housing Association and (c) by new town development corporations; and what percentage of the respective total housing stocks these figures represent.

The figures requested are shown in the table for the period 1 January 1973 to 30 September 1983.

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list (a) the total number of houses sold by (i) local authorities, (ii) the Scottish. Special Housing Association and (iii) new town development corporations in each local authority district since the enactment of the Tenants' Rights, Etc. (Scotland) Act 1980, (b) the numbers in each district sold to sitting tenants and (c) the percentage of the total public sector stock sold in each district.

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will use the information available from his Department's study of council house sales in three local authorities to give a year by year breakdown of the length of tenancy of purchasers, including tenancies of 20 or more years.

The following information on the length of tenancy of purchasers of local authority houses is taken from a Scottish development department study carried out in the districts of Strathkelvin, Dunfermline and north-east Fife in the autumn of 1982.
