asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if his Department can now announce launch aid for the Rolls-Royce V2500 aero engine; and if he will make a statement.

Launch aid arrangements for Rolls-Royce's participation in the V2500 aero-engine project have not been finalised and I am therefore not yet in a position to make an announcement.

62. Mr. Greg Knight

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will make a statement about Government aid to the Rolls-Royce V2500 engine and the means by which he intends to monitor the progress of the project.
