asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will take steps to encourage more use of educational systems houses and software companies by Government agencies.

It is part of our policy to encourage commercial software houses to play a more important role in the provision of educational software. My Department is urgently considering ways of increasing their involvement and an announcement will be made shortly.
