On the projections made of pay and price changes, health authority spending will be some 1 per cent. higher in real terms.

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what was the cost of expenditure on the National Health Service in England in 1975–76, 1977–78 and 1982–83 at 1975 prices.

Total spending on the NHS expressed in 1975–76 prices measured by the retail price index was £4.51 billion in 1975–76; £4.33 billion in 1977–78; and £5.3 billion in 1982–83.
