HC Deb 28 February 1984 vol 55 c114W
Mr. Gould

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will publish in the Official Report a table showing the increase in the cost of imports each year since 1972 as a result of price increases under the common agricultural policy by reason only of changes in the value of the green pound or in the value of the pound sterling against the European currency unit as the case may be.

Mr. MacGregor

There are many factors which have affected both the volume and unit price of imports. It is not possible to assess, with any precision, the impact of changes in the value of the green pound or pound sterling on the changes which have taken place in the costs of imports.
