HC Deb 28 February 1984 vol 55 c123W
Mr. Austin Mitchell

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will publish in the Official Report a table showing for the United Kingdom and for the European Economic Community Six the average rate of growth of gross domestic product (a) since 1973, (b) 1954 to 1957 and (c) 1959 to 1973.

Mr. Ian Stewart

The information is given in the table. No constant price estimates of gross domestic product for Luxembourg, adjusted to international definitions, are available for the years before 1960. For the period 1954 to 1957, therefore, the figure given for the EC excludes Luxembourg. 1960 has been substituted as the starting date for the second period of comparison to enable Luxembourg to be included.
