HL Deb 27 February 1984 vol 448 c1145WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What consideration has been given within NATO to the formation for a Permanent Maritime Contingency Force (Norwegian Sea) as proposed in 1978 by Admiral Sir James Jungius, while European representative of the Supreme Allied Commander Atlantic, and with what result.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Armed Forces (Lord Trefgarne)

NATO has no plans to form a Permanent Maritime Contingency Force (Norwegian Sea). However, the Standing Naval Force Atlantic deploys to the Norwegian Sea from time to time.
