HC Deb 27 February 1984 vol 55 c43W
Mr. Ralph Howell

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the total number of planning officers in England.

Mr. Patrick Jenkin

At 24 February the Department of the Environment was employing 76 planning officers in England. I do not have an equivalent figure for professional planning officers in local authorities and other public bodies. Total numbers employed in town and country planning by local government are published in the Joint Manpower Watch; copies are available in the Library.
