asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the average number of patients on a general practitioner's roll; and how this figure compares with the average number in (a) France, (b) Germany and (c) the European Economic Community countries as a whole.

The average patient list size of unrestricted principals in general medical practice in England at 1 October 1982 (the latest date for which figures are available) was 2,147. Comparative figures with other countries are not available.
