HC Deb 23 February 1984 vol 54 cc596-7W
Mr. Terlezki

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many crimes of mugging, theft and robbery were committed in Scotland over the past 10 years by (a) the 14 to 16 year age group, (b) the 17 to 20 year age group, (c) the 21 to 25 year age group, (d) the 26 to 30 year age group, (e) the 31 to 35 year age group and (f) the 36 to 45 year age group.

Mr. Ancram

For detected crimes of theft and robbery in Scotland the table gives the numbers of persons warned by the police or proceeded against and children referred to the reporter to the children's panel or to the procurator fiscal (to avoid double counting children proceeded against are not included as they will have been counted as having been referred to the procurator fiscal). The offence commonly known as "mugging" is classified as robbery in the statistics collected by the Scottish Home and Health Department.
