HC Deb 22 February 1984 vol 54 cc542-3W
Mr. Ralph Howell

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the percentage of Government revenue contributed by the corporate sector in each of the EEC states, distinguishing between company and corporation taxes, employers' social security contributions, local taxes and other taxation, for each year since 1979.

Mr. Moore

Information in the form requested is not readily available.

Mr. Ralph Howell

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will publish a table showing revenue raised during each year since 1979 from each of the following; personal incomes, central Government expenditure taxes, local government rates, employees' social security contributions, employers' social security contributions and other company taxation; and if he will express each as a percentage of total revenues.

Mr. Moore

The information requested is given in the table. Figures are given in £ billion, and as a percentage of total revenues, that is, central Government taxes together with local authority rates and national insurance contributions. NIS has been included in other company taxation. Note that the percentages do not sum to 100 per cent. because of the exclusion of capital taxes.

Mr. Ralph Howell

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what proportion of total revenue for the latest available year was raised in each of the EEC member states in (a) taxes on personal incomes, (b) value added tax, (c) other taxes on expenditure, including local property taxes, (d) employees' social security contributions, (e) employers' social security contributions and (f) other company taxation.
